How can he know?

I was reading Acts 8 as part of my regular study when I was gripped, more challenged by the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch. The Eunuch appears to be a clever man, high ranking in his country and religious in his heart as the scripture says he was returning from Jerusalem where he had been at worship. The Eunuch was reading Isaiah when Philip dropped in on him. 'Do you understand what you are reading? Asked Philip to which the answer was almost indignant 'Well how could I, unless someone guides me'.

Made me think, Paul says in Romans that the Gospel is the power unto salvation. But how would anyone understand the Gospel (Good News) without someone sharing the meaning of this life saving truth? How ready am I to give an answer to those reading about God but not understanding a thing about their sin, their need for repentance and the gift of salvation available to them through Jesus Christ alone?

Time to move Church, it's not all about you., but it is all about Him. How much of His Truth are you living by? Are you prepared to give a reason for your faith? Are you willing to get out there and share the Gospel with your family and friends before the opportunity has passed you by. Praise Him for the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth, and empowers us to be His witnesses wherever we go.

  1. Amen
We have been entrusted with God's good news message for those who have not yet found Him
Too often our time is spent in a holy huddle, inward looking, more interested in the stew in the stewpot than getting out there and feeding the hungry and needy
Bless you - keep writing x
